Please arrive about 10 minutes early for your first visit, so we can welcome you to the studio and you can speak with the instructor about any special needs or concerns you may have.
Who can do Yoga? Every ’body’ can do yoga. It does not matter what age or shape you are, your mind and muscles can move and stretch just the same. As a beginner you may find that you cannot hold each pose for the suggested length of time, so work only to your own capability. In Yoga we start where we are, not where our expectations tell us to be. People come to yoga for a variety of reasons. Whether you are starting your yoga journey at the advice of a health care provider to help with a condition or body pain, to help ease stress, anxiety or depression, or to generally get fit and healthy, we have a class for you! Which class is right for me? Truth is you won’t really know until you try, but do ask for guidance as different styles may be suitable for your needs and capabilities. Distinct differences between various schools of yoga have developed over time, but no matter what lineage or style, there is a path for everyone, and we can all experience and celebrate ‘unity’ within the wonderful diversity of yoga. Please read the class descriptions and see what appeals to you. What should I wear? Yoga is practiced in bare feet. Wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movements. There is a large bathroom if you need to change at the studio. What should I bring? Please bring your own mat and towel if you have one. Mats are available for purchase or rent at the studio. Mat Rental - $1. Should I preregister for class on-line? If you preregister it's easier for you to make a commitment to practice on a regular basis, and the more you practice, the bigger the benefits! Our on-line scheduler makes it easy for you to do this, or use our free App! - 532Yoga. We recommend booking your place in advance especially for the evening classes. Please note that there is a 6 hour cancellation policy. I am a Beginner. Which class should I attend? We offer a variety of classes, and have something for every 'body'. As a beginner, we recommend that you start with either a Yoga 101 or a Gentle class. Pick a day/time that suits your schedule, and let us know after class if you are looking for something more physical/less physical etc. so we can better point you in the right direction. All yoga promotes stress relief, relaxation, overall health and well-being, and we're always happy to help you choose the class that works best for you. We schedule a Beginners Workshop, Introduction to Yoga, or series of classes intermittently during the year, so do check our workshops page regularly for current workshops. How often should I attend classes? We all know; the more you do, generally, the more benefits you get. Yoga is no different. If you practice once per week, that's great! Practicing three to four time per week - well, that would be better. But just like yoga pants, one size does not fit all. Do what you can and practice when you can. Of course the more you do, the better you will feel and the more changes you will see! Practice everyday and you will be amazed by what happens! Find out why millions of people all over the world look to yoga to improve every aspect of their lives regardless of age, health, weight, or level of fitness. Whether you're aiming for flexibility or just a calmer mind, yoga has immeasurable benefits. Physically, yoga has been shown to improve flexibility, posture, balance, strengthen bones, and increase muscle strength. Research shows that a regular yoga practice can decrease inflammation, boost immune system function, keep the spine and joints supple and improve symptoms associated with health conditions. The practice can also do wonders for your mental health and mood, reducing stress, depression, anxiety, and dis-ease. If you need advice or have questions, please feel free to contact us and we will help to point you in the right direction. Please note that we have a 6 hour cancellation policy. |
